Mindfulness & Differentiation

There’s something amazing about 40 Early Childhood Educators showing up at 5:30 pm to get down with some mindfulness and yoga with me!  If you have ever taught early childhood, you know that by 5:30pm, it is likely that you feel like you’ve been on a treadmill stuck on high for 8 hours.  It’s a super awesome job, but it’s exhausting.  There’s something even more amazing about watching them relax, collaborate, celebrate, affirm, yoga, laugh, plan, and challenge themselves with a smile.

That is what happened last week at the Rock Island Regional Office of Education in my Performance Learning workshop on Mindfulness Practices for the Early Childhood Educator  and I can’t wait to get back with this group of super-teachers!  Throughout the workshop, participants experienced yoga and mindful brain breaks, including specialized breathing techniques that they can use with their students and for themselves! They learned about how to implement a mindful classroom that elevates little learners instead and allows the teacher to help children build a growth mindset! They learned about tons of free and cheap yoga and mindfulness resources!  They learned successful ways to build positive communication techniques with their students, their colleagues and themselves! I learned there are some really fantastic things happening in QC area preschools and I am excited to learn more about them!

Until next time…remember to take time to play, breathe, and laugh!
